MACPAC staff presented on the need to improve Medicaid demographic data collection, primarily regarding language, sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI), and disability. Commissioners were supportive of this work, making minor suggestions on improvement to ensure the highest quality data is collected.
Improving Transparency of Medicaid & CHIP Financing
MACPAC staff reviewed proposed recommendations that expand on prior recommendations to increase transparency of provider contributions in Medicaid financing for both Medicaid and CHIP. Commissioners voted unanimously to pass the draft recommendations.
Optimizing State Medicaid Agency Contracts
MACPAC staff presented proposed recommendations that build on previous recommendations to improve integration strategy and efficiency relating to State Medicaid Agency Contracts (SMACs). Commissioners reviewed a draft chapter on SMAC optimization and voted unanimously to pass both presented recommendations.
Lessons from Medicaid Unwinding
MACPAC staff held a panel featuring Medicaid experts to discuss the lessons learned from the Medicaid Unwinding process, and opportunities stakeholders and policymakers can explore to improve outcomes. Commissioners expressed heightened interest in improving processes relating to ex parte renewals, notices, and enrollee outreach.
