DESCRIPTION
ADVI Health is seeking a Director with extensive health policy expertise in drugs and biologics, market access expertise, or both:
Team members within ADVI’s Policy & Reimbursement Solutions team monitor, analyze, curate, and present on a number of important federal and state issues that impact our client’s business imperatives including reforms related to drug pricing, coverage, reimbursement and benefit design across public and private payers. We are steeped in Medicare and Medicare Advantage policy and payment, Medicaid and state health policy, as well as Exchange and employer plan policy issues. We also analyze evolving commercial payer activities such as white bagging, copay accumulators and maximizers, utilization management concerns. Our biopharma work spans drugs, biologics, cell and gene therapies and vaccines, with product-specific issues across all therapeutic areas, including oncology, diabetes, rheumatology, neurology, and rare and ultra-rare diseases.
We complement our team’s know how with an ADVISOR NETWORK of operators, industry professionals, payers, policymakers and clinicians, to provide highly specialized advice and counsel to our clients. Our Strategic Analytics and Value Economics (ADVI SAVEs) team supports our Policy and Market Access Verticals by providing quantitative support with top of the industry data from Medicare and Medicaid, including managed care, as well as COVID-specific and chronic disease data. Our team provides mock CBO scores, ICER-like modeling, rulemaking rate setting analysis and other claims-based analyses. ADVI team members work seamlessly with one another so coordination with our SAVEs and Market Access and Pricing verticals will occur naturally as policy, strategy, and data analytics are utilized in answering our clients’ most pressing business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
An ADVI Director understands the nuances of health policy debates and has experience creating, assessing or advocating for policy changes at the federal, state, or commercial levels. A background in drugs and biologics, along with an appreciation for the patient, provider, and industry group perspectives that help shape policy in the space, is a necessity. Experience engaging with CMS, HHS, state Medicaid, and other federal and state regulators is preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leverages biopharma policy expertise to lead teams across projects and clients
- Able to independently analyze, draw conclusions, and effectively communicate conclusions with regard to complex client issues
- Provide subject matter expertise to client teams in a manner which strengthens the ADVI brand with the senior leadership of these clients
- Proactively sense emerging relationship and project risks, establish contingency plans and manage expectations with both the client(s) and the ADVI client lead(s)
- Work with team members to complete project plans and deliverables
- Mentor junior staff who demonstrate interest and ability to advance
- Build relationships within existing client to broaden reach including generating new business across ADVI Verticals, creating new client opportunities, building on your own and the firm’s subject matter expertise
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development of project deliverables, work independently and through teams
- Independently analyze policy proposals, legislation, and regulations
- Develop personal credibility among clients as a strategic, reimbursement, legislative and/or regulatory expert
- Produce the final or near final version of key deliverables.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS
- A graduate degree in health policy, public policy, health economics, healthcare management, public health, public administration, business administration, or a relevant discipline; a combination of bachelor’s degree and in-depth relevant work experience is also acceptable
- 7–10 years of relevant work experience, which could include employment by a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company, consulting firm, relevant trade group or advocacy organization; industry experience is preferred
