ADVI Health’s Strategic Analytics, Values and Economics (SAVEs) team recently studied the COVID-19 vaccination uptake rate in Medicare Fee-For-Service (FFS) patients in the 2023 winter season.
Overall, the data shows that older white patients with chronic conditions are getting vaccinated at higher rates (figure 1).

Conversely, Black and Hispanic patients’ proportions doubled in the non-vaccinated group compared to the vaccinated (figure 2).

Additionally, the non-vaccinated group accounted for 15 percent of dually eligible Medicare and Medicaid patients and 16 percent of low-income subsidy (LIS) patients. The vaccinated group consisted of only 7 percent for dual eligible and LIS (figure 3).
