As a senior advisor at ADVI, Tom advises clients on MA and Part D regulations and policies, their potential impacts, and how best to respond.

Life Pre-ADVI Health:

Previously, Tom was a senior consultant at Avalere, and he also served as the vice president of Medicare Policy at AHIP. He spent 10 years at CMS in a variety of roles tied to health plan payment and risk adjustment.

Life Beyond ADVI Health:

Tom lives in the Washington, DC area with his wife and two kids. He is a die-hard fan of the Michigan Wolverines and the New York Giants. In his spare time, Tom plays ice hockey, watches college football, and in the summer months he loves to be at the beach.

Tom Kornfield is the founder and CEO of MAST Health Policy Solutions, a boutique healthcare consulting firm specializing in Medicare Advantage (MA) and Part D. He is a recognized national expert on MA payment policy with mastery of Medicare Part D and the Inflation Reduction Act. His unique combination of working in the public and private sector, gained over 25 years of experience, provides him with an unparalleled and creative perspective on government policy. In addition, during his tenure at CMS, he originated the idea to allow five-star Medicare health plans to market and enroll year-round.

Tom holds an MPP from the University of Michigan’s School of Public Policy. His undergraduate degree is from Hamilton College.
